The Serenaders musical ensemble has always highlighted jazz standards from the proverbial Great American Songbook, but it has evolved to include big band/swing versions of contemporary jazz and popular music. The music is perfect for dancers - as well as those who just like to sit back and enjoy the music. The band can also "dial it down" to provide background music while people enjoy food and conversation.
The Serenaders play all sorts of dance styles: Swing, Latin (including Cha Cha, Rhumba, and Samba/Bossa Nova), Waltz, Foxtrot, and Quick Step.
We play many tunes from the classic big bands led by Count Basie, Les Brown, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman, Glenn Miller, and Artie Shaw.
Our repertoire has many songs that remain popular over the decades, such as Fly Me to the Moon, I Can't Stop Loving You, In the Mood, Mister Sandman, Moon Glow, Moon River, Route 66, Stardust, St. Louis Blues, Take the "A" Train, and Tenderly.
Our repertoire includes popular show tunes, including Cabaret, Hello Dolly, and New York, New York.
The Serenaders play tunes made famous by jazz icons such as Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Judy Garland, Henry Mancini, Sonny Rollins, Frank Sinatra, and Fats Waller.
